The European Association of Distance Teaching Universities: Europe's leading institutional association in online, open and flexible higher education.

Established in 1988, Universidade Aberta (UAb) is the only public higher education institution of distance learning in Portugal.

The Open University of Israel is the largest public university and academic publisher in Israel. With more than 45.000 students, it offers 650 courses in all major disciplines (apart from law and medicine). 

The HOU, established in 1992, is the sole Greek State University that provides distance education in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The "Centre for Distance Studies Austria" (CDSA) is part of the Johannes Kepler University Linz. It has study centers in a range of Austrian towns and cities: Bregenz, Linz, Saalfelden, Villach and Vienna.


The Open University of Cyprus (OUC) was founded in 2002 as the second public University in Cyprus and the only University devoted entirely to open and distance education in the country. 

The Open University was founded as a distance teaching university in 1969 and today the OU is the largest academic institution in the UK with around 200.000 students. 

Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Finland, with ca. 10000 students, with seven different fields of education. 

The National Distance Education University (UNED) has as its mission the public service of higher education through the modality of distance education.

The University of Jyväskylä is an internationally renowned research university. They are one of the largest and most popular multidisciplinary universities in Finland.

University of Ljubljana is the oldest and largest higher education and scientific research institution in Slovenia. University with its rich tradition was founded in 1919.

Open Universiteit, founded in 1984, is an independent, government-funded Dutch university, known for its state-of-the-art teaching methods.

The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) was founded in 1995 as the world's first online university with the mission of using technology to make quality university education available to everyone.

The FernUniversität in Hagen is Germany’s only state distance-learning university, and its largest in terms of student numbers.

caled2CALED is the Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Quality in Distance Higher Education, which provides advisory assistance, mainly in self-evaluation, for programs requiring this process. 

Thomas More is the largest university of applied sciences in Flanders, offering more than 30 Dutch-taught and a range of English-taught bachelor degree programmes & postgraduates in the province of Antwerp. Next to that, Thomas More offers exchange programmes in English, for students from partner universities.

Artevelde University of Applied Sciences, founded in 2000, offers a wide variety of study programmes in the fields of Business & Management, Communication, Media & Design, Education, People & Society and Health & Care. Today, it is a progressive centre of expertise for education, research and development. 

UniDistance Suisse is a university institute accredited according to Swiss law. It offers bachelor and master distance programmes. UniDistance Suisse has been offering distance learning university programmes since 1992. Today it has more than 2,300 German-speaking, French-speaking and English-speaking students.
